Mr Morrison, I owe you thanks…

Christ, I think I may have found a literary hero. The late, great Jim Morrison. Thanks to him, I’ve managed to find endless inspiration and for the first time in years I’ve been able to fully express myself through poetry.

Endless Light

Power is a thing best left unfettered.
I tell you this to save your soul,
Not to sell it.
Talk to me girl,
Tell me of pretty, dreamlike things,
Things best forgotten as we watch the sun set,
Together we rise, estranged we fall.

Some things are best left unsaid,
A rush of blood to the head
Makes me forget those times we shared.
Left open in the blistering sun
So you can rummage in my bowels
Searching, still searching
For that special part of me.

What makes me whole?
You? Him? Her?
Or is it some cosmic balance,
Forever perpetuated, unsubstantiated
By our actions towards eachother.

Let us not leave in bitterness,
But joy in knowing that the endless cycle
Has been completed through words that we said
Thoughts going through my head
Lead me back to you.

New poems

These are the first poems I’ve written in French. While they’re separated into verses, they should be read spoken word. No translations, if you really want to know what I’m going on about, Google is your friend ;)

More lyrical goodness…

Well, not actually all that good. Music I write to fuel the 24-hour disco in my head.
“The Sun Sets in the West”

Staring up at the sun
Coming closer to the big one
The winners know they’re the best
Cuz the sun sets in the West

They try run, they try to hide
But they’re with us for the whole ride, messiah
We eradicated all the rest
The sun sets in the West

And now there’s noone left to shoot
We climbed the tree and picked the fruit
The generals hide in their nest
The sun sets in the West

We thought that we could overcome
The effects of the setting sun
We think that we have passed the test
And the sun sets in the West

“Children of the Sun”

We stand in the sun
Evolution doesn’t affect everyone
And so I stood and watched
Countries go to war
When’s it gonna end, I can’t take it any more
It’s all so sad to me

In the sun we are eternal
Burning in it’s glow
While you go forth and plant your seed
We’re gonna take it slow

Walk the roughly beaten track
Said the Kettle to the Pot “your soul is black”
Oh, and when does it end?
What is this I see?
Hot dog stands and Mickey D’s
Oh, and where does it end?

In the sun we are eternal
Burning in it’s glow
While you go forth and plant your seed
We’re gonna take it heavy and slow
And in the sun we feel so needed
Generation of the One
And in Love we reign eternal
Just as long as we take it slow

Long lasting hypocrisy
Guy goes loco on a killing spree
Oh, and when will it end?
Shotgun blast reigns out loud
God bless this country, you should be proud
Oh please make it end!

In the sun we are eternal
Burning in it’s glow
Whole you go forth and plant your seed
We’re gonna take it heavy and slow
And in the sun we feel so needed
Generation of the One
And in Love we reign eternal
Just as long as we take it slow

From the Poetry Vault

Here are some old and new bits of poetry/lyrics I’ve written…

“Memento”

I look in the mirror and what do I see?
A forest of eyes staring at me,
I look in the mirror and what do I see?
Classmates I took still laughing at me,

[Refrain]
I wait for you
I talk for you
I run for you
I live for you

I look at her body and what do I see?
Closer to attaining perfect symmetry,
I want to be her and she wants to be me,
I change her and mold her ’till she becomes me

Look into her dead, almond shaped eyes,
The eyes, the eyes, the eyes, the eyes,
When she is reborn, I have a surprise
In the form of a day where everything dies

[Refrain]

“Poisonous Words”

I hear voices talking in my head
They say things that make me see red
I can’t believe some of the things they said
They told me that I’d be better off dead

I see people living in hardened sin
Immersed enough to make my head spin
I don’t know why I let these people in
They make me retreat inside my second skin

When you spew words of poison
I feel light headed and I start to weep
Your head is full of poison
You make me weary and I want to sleep

This world hurts me in ways I’ve never known
I need to find my way all on my own
I let out a sigh, a long and weary groan
For I let you cast the first stone

When you spew words of poison
I feel light headed and I start to weep
Your head is full of poison
You make me weary and I want to sleep
This world is full of poison
It gets so much that I just can’t stand
People are so full of poison
They go through life selling their own brand

“Society Today”

A man sits on the streets with broken shoes on his feet
He can’t get no job, he’s an ex-con, got caught on the beat
Next to him lies a dirty broken used syringe
Looking at him, you might think that you’d feel a little tinge of sympathy
But no, instead wherever he goes
People look at him in disgust, and they turn up their nose
“Don’t look at him honey” say the moms to their kids
And others hurry by, he’s a taboo that society forbids
His lids droop, you’d think that someone would stoop
Down to his level and pick him up, give him some food
And no one does, not the businessmen in their designer suits
They think of him as the part of society that pollutes
National economy denies his right to shelter inside
Under a roof, this is physical proof that the system abides
To the will of the rich, the upper class, the ones who wage wars
The ones who run the stores, sit at home and get bored
While their trophy wives sit and cry themselves to sleep
There ain’t no love in a family when you’ve got money to reap
And the companies know it and they sure use it to their advantage
The world governments screw us over and constantly mismanage
Our money, some of the most beautiful people are ugly
Corrupted by money, drowning in a bottle of bubbly
While the working class strive to live a bearable life
Another cop gets shanked on the streets with a knife
And the moral of this sad, pessimistic tale
Is that the world as we know it is going off the rails
And just look around and you will see just what I mean
Genocide, people dying because they’ve got no freedom
So what can we do? Should we just sit around,
And wait for this city to burn down to the ground?
We gotta get up and act, shout in a united voice,
“We can change things as long as we’ve got freedom of choice!”
We don’t have to follow what the government says
We are individuals, we go through life at our own pace
We can make a change so that no one will live poor
And the youth of the nation won’t have to die in wars
You may say I’m an idealist but since when was that bad?
It doesn’t make me a pushover, it doesn’t make me mad
All I want is mankind to realize we’re all one
If we can’t do that, I fear the end has begun

Huzzah for crap poetry! More to come.

The Silenced Revolution

Wee, Eminem should pay attention.

The corrupted government does all that they can
To kill the thoughts and ideas of the free thinking man
It’s been like this ever since civilization began
Just like the NRA, and the Ku Klux Klan
Hating and demonstrating against the black man
The individual is silenced, the masses diminished
The freedom fighters are crushed, the revolution is finished
And the meaning of liberty is redefined
We’re all assigned a name, rank and serial number
Until the individuals are the ones outnumbered
And the populace is overencumbered
There ain’t no free thought any more, it’s been replaced by TV
Watching CNN and teenage kids go on killing sprees
Try to imagine a world without organized creed
Where the preacher man’s word isn’t motivated by greed
And as we sit in our homes and eat our three square meals
And as we watch television with no artistic appeal
I can’t help but wonder if the government steal
All of our souls, while they secure their arms deal
And if you choose to ignore this slice of truth that i’m spittin’
That’s fine with me, cuz you don’t know what you’re missing
One day they’ll come for you, to exact their final solution
They’ll round up all the free thinkers, rewrite the constitution
And exterminate us, through electrocution
The revolution is silenced, the masses diminished
There ain’t no hope for us now, we’re as good as finished
